Exclusive Painting "Revival of Venus"
The painting is a tribute to Botticelli, with a subject adapted to contemporary times, but especially in the pandemic period.
Venus, with a newborn, tied to the umbilical cord, on the background of the cross, a symbol of a mother's sacrifice and with an aura - a symbol of the energetic purity of all people. Painted in 24 hours, March 2020, and perfected for two years, it was created in order to manifest in front of the church.
I went out in front of an Orthodox church, which formalized the service during the Coronavirus pandemic, to protest peacefully (sitting with the painting in the courtyard of the religious place, public place) against the dogmas of the church, which put the community in danger of infection and against ideologies. promoted by them.
This manifesto aroused a wave of discontent and rebellion from some religious fanatics, but also admiration from others, after the press publicized the manifesto.
Performance-protest against the following actions:
- subjecting the community to the risk of illness and infection, not only during the pandemic, by kissing icons and eating from the same spoon.
- gender discrimination, by prohibiting women from accessing the church during menstruation and after childbirth. Let us not forget that Christ was born naturally of a woman.
- Incitement to hatred, embarrassment and blaming one's own body, through the argument of sin in case of masturbation, protected sex and mothers of "bad faith" for the birth of a child with disabilities.
- the transformation of religion into a profitable business, under the pretext of faith.
During the manifesto, some believers reacted aggressively and began to insult us with verbal threats, as a result of which the painting suffered little. Subsequently, false accusations of vandalizing cars appeared on the church's website. They even called the police and filed a complaint, although we acted in accordance with the law. One interesting thing I noticed was that some people perceived the painting as an icon because they were crossing as they passed me.
The painting is part of the upcoming "Inception" collection.
